Our unique Turkish carpet shop opened in May 2016 as a consequence of an unforgettable journey along the spectacular Silk Road. The journey took us through India, Pakistan, China, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Iran, Azerbaijan, Georgia and Turkey, where we purchased carpets, lamps, ceramics & artefacts for our own home in Northcote, Victoria.
Many of the Turks became our close friends, some of whom fell on hardship due to military activities in their country. They offered us their shop and we were fortuitously able to open ‘Silk Road Rugs And Tours’ around the corner from home. It is filled with exclusive handmade carpets, exquisite intricate ceramics, colourful mosaic lamps, unique traditional handbags as well as jewellery, scarves, cushion, bed and table covers, embroidery, wall hangings and paintings.
We also promote and sell the Silk Road journey which is absolutely phenomenal and a ‘must do’ tour. The art and culture of Islam needs to be seen to be believed. It is all here in our shop!
